Looks pretty good! I kinda like it without the stripes too. It's an old MPC kit, I think. Never known for great engines or chassis. *NM*

Just finished building a 1971 Dodge Demon. The kits body is great, the interior is OK, but in my opinion, the engine and chassis and suspension are very generic. Toy like. ....... *PICS* .....

Diggin that! *NM*
I would hit that engine compartment with some black wash. You dont have to grime it up but it will look more like a real engine, thats if i was building it , you do you. *NM*
Beautiful model - great paint! I don't see why R2 felt the need to simplify things so much , regardless of what the original kit was like. Link to a real 340 under the hood in the msg. *NM* *LINK*
Just substituting the front cover and the belts/accessories from a Revell 340 to that engine would improve it 90%. Add the heater hoses and it'd be 95% better. *NM*
FYI, I kind of like the 340 engine in the AMT '71 Duster 340...INSTRUCTION EXCERPT INSIDE..
I also don't understand why when AMT had the newer tooled 1971 Duster with the detailed frame, suspension & engine they didn't use it as the underpinnings for the 1971 Demon.........AFAIK didn't both Duster & Demon share the same, chassis, engine & body shell etc in 1:1 scale. *NM*
Tooling from 2 different eras, maybe fiddley to run together *NM*
I'm sure that's it, but as modellers, we can make those two kits work together, just cost us twice as much. Hey maybe that's the reason! *NM*
Correct. New-tool Duster is now 20+ years old
You make a great point. While I like some of the details of the Duster kit, the mis-shapen windows take a lot away from that kit. To my eye, the Demon body looks much better on the shelf, which is most important, IMHO.
Has anyone fitted a Demon body with Duster bits yet? *NM*
I gave it a real quick look. Biggest issue is the engine compartment. One kit it's attached to the body and the other kit it's part of the frame. *NM*
There is a solution
Even though the tooling designed in the late 90's is really good, it is all pre-CAD. So Round2 is reluctant to try to make changes to that era tooling after all the headaches they had with the full bumper 70 Camaro. *NM*
I think it looks great! *NM*
I like it! I hear what you're saying about lack of detail, I still think it's a decent kit.....but if you don't like the Demon, save your money when the 72 Duster comes out, cause it will share most of the underpinnings with this kit.
Ahh, ignore my comment above! *NM*
Looks great to me. Is that MCW paint on the body? *NM*
The paint is from Scalefinishes. I like their Super Primer and their colors. *NM*
