    • Water based - Have you tested clear coating the Sharpies? *NM*
      • Bill, I rarely clear coat ANYTHING. The few modelers who know me also know I rarely build anything and when I do it has a flat finish. I may test a clear coat just for the heck of it. *NM*
      • I don't clearcoat either except for flats on military stuff. Can't beat a good polish and shine. *NM*
  • At least with Sharpie paint pens, as your spoon test shows, key is getting a consistent coat and then, letting it sufficiently cure before recoating to avoid thick and gooey *NM*
