A Ford dealer was like Alice's Restaurant: You could get anything you want...

Up to and including the CJ 428. But, even then, the vast majority of units were ordered for dealer stock, with the **encouragement** of a District Manager (like a fresh-faced Tim Boyd.)

A hip dealer would get out the pad and take the order, like a CJ in the Brougham or Ranchero... but most salespeople would do whatever they could to sell you one they already had.
