The current "Cobra" bodyside inserts were (re) cut some time in the 80's to get a stock version back in the line - well after the early '70s conversion to the Modified Stocker.
IMO, they are not as crisp as the GT annual kit the shape is a little wierd. But it is a good source of 'dog food' parts to restore your '68-69 Torino.
Cos it might be interesting, I'll give the floor to the experts who know the exact tool lineage. My guess is that the current LMS and street Torino are the same tool with different slides for the bodysides.
But, were there two tools at some point to produce both the Fastback and the Convertible/Coupe? And did the Color Me issue of the '67 Fairlane hit shelves in '68-9, and how would AMT have moved those inserts around? Common wisdom would suggest the '67 would have been harvested to make the '68-9 and no re-release would be practical, but what I recall of the "Color Me" is that it was identical to the annual...?
