That kit has the steerable front end - nothing can be done with that one. I was thinking about a Revell front axle, with different backing plates to replace the stock mechanical brake units...

I've got a couple of old AMT Deuce builds where I scratched the front axle - even a steerable one on one car - but those are solid and haven't got the "beam" effect in the center. The drop areas at the ends can be like that (filled ends) but the center should have that recessed area. There are other good dropped axles: Revell Deuce, the old Monogram Deuce roadster, AMT '27 Ford touring. I think I've got one with the front axle from a late Sixties Falcon annual kit. There are good ones out there--
