Cha ching on the woody suggestion - and if you land on a front axle solution that is readily available and fairly sturdy (!) that would be even better.

I'm with you on the kit and the box art - it really is a pretty handsome devil as it sits, and would be better with a bit of drop.

Maybe Dave Darby or Tim Boyd have a cheat code for the fix - slot the crossmember (?) - that would be a fairly simple fix and stand up to club night handling.
