When my city had the fires, I figured that once it reached the end of the forested area it would be okay, which it mostly was. But our winds were only in the 40 mph range. The California winds topped out in the 100 mph area, so it kept going regardless. Crazy. *NM*

Spring of ‘23 was wild for Nova Scotia. Nothing up my way on the Bay of Fundy in East Hants but it was interesting down Halifax way. *NM*
Volatility of the situation was/ia aggravated by lack of mitigation - no clearing of ground cover or removal of duff for three or four decades. After all, it won't happen, will it? *NM*
All the deadfall is gone now...you would have thought multiple fires in the canyons would have gotten someone's attention
The last two very wet winters we had are partially responsible for these fires being so bad.....
