Well, if a tow truck operator had a '72 rig that got totaled in a wreck, but the wrecker portion was ok, he might put it on an old Chevy farm truck his uncle never used any more. *NM*
Light duty wrecker bodies are not that plentiful. Hard job finding good examples of 50's and 60's wreckers on line. *NM*
There are diecast wreckers that might be good sources for parts. A 1950 lighter duty tow truck might have a Weaver hoist through. There is reference for scratchbuilting such a unit around the internet. *NM*
You'd want the wrecker unit to be older than the truck (or equal for the first installation). The trucks wore out/rusted out faster than the wrecker, so a unit would be switched to a new truck when the first one wore out *NM*
I used to know of an independent tow truck driver who bought a brand new Chevy C30 Holmes wrecker every seven years or so.

Now we are getting somewhere. I'm guessing the OP was wondering if it would be found on a '60 Ford, and unless it was a VERY unusual circumstance, that would be a no. But it does beg the question of what WOULD be correct for a light(er) duty wrecker body...

I have two of the Moebius kits, working on one now, cut the bed down to a low side or west coast as some call it. I have a 60 F-100 waiting for the bed from the other kit. I’ll leave it as a high side, and period correct or not I’m doing it LOL! *NM*
