Spotlight Hobbies

Most of the LHSs still in business in the D/FW area are either R/C only shops, model railroad-only shops, or local franchise of the "town". One train store does have a case assortment of model cars and does carry some model train mags, but nothing beyond it.

I say "most of the local LHSs", because there might be someone trying to run a 'brick-and-mortar" hobby store somewhere, other than the train and r/c places. Former member of the MCMA has a 'store' in Grand Prairie, but I think the "store" exists only at shows and contests.

I once 'toured' the entire Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex over 30 years ago, hitting all of the hobby stores listed in each city's Yellow Pages. Think almost all of those stores have shut down for various reasons (owner died or retired, being number one). There are areas of the metroplex I haven't been to in years, because the only reason I was going there was because of a hobby store, and it's been years since it closed.

I got my Model Cars issues from a model car vendor out of the Houston area, but the last two IPMS shows I went to (including one near Austin last Saturday), he didn't have any for sale. Maybe the upcoming show in January in New Braunfels...
