A few blocks from my parents' house in Killeen, Texas, there was a used car lot in front of an abandoned electric supply shop lot. The shop had a boom truck built from an early '50s Chevy school bus in back (could see it from the street). In the vacant area behind the fenced-off shop was a lot of industrial scrap (steel girders, steel wall panels, etc.) PLUS a trailer built from a SWB school bus chssis. Original frame from the firewall back, with the bus floor still attached, and a pintle loop hitch welded to the framerails.
The used car lot closed 20+ years or so ago. The electric shop lot was redeveloped into a modern building for a local construction company. The vacant lot and the street next to it (named 'Industrial Boulevard', but it was never paved or used by anyone except school bus drivers looking for a shortcut to a nearby elementary school) was redeveloped into a cul-de-sac (named 'Industrial"...no industries were ever built on it!) with residential four-plexes on it.
Found a school bus brochure from the '50s a few years ago. Bought it, Never did build a bus model using it.
