A lot of that Civil Defense stuff was retained for years before it was forgotten. Due to the cost of getting a siren down off the roof of a building, I'd bet some are still out there *NM*

Early Hemis also used to be used for emergency generators in large buildings like hospitals. A former neighbor worked for a Honeywell division that serviced gensets, and remarked that some old buildings still had Hemis for backup, or did in the early part of his career. *PIC*
Our family farm had a '57 Industrial Hemi chugging behind the irrigation well into the early '70s - when replaced with a Ford 429 industrial gaseous fuel engine
