Spotlight Hobbies

Now imagine how much worse that would be if these vintage cars wouldn’t work without specific computers and in-car networks running complex, proprietary software. This applies to all modern vehicles, but EVs software is an order of magnitude higher than ICEs.

If there is enough enthusiasm and thus hobbyists wanting to work at problem solving, or willing to pay somebody with the expertise to problem solve, then sure there will be the pathway to preserving these vehicles, but realize that it will be a much greater task because vehicles are more complex than they were in the 1960s or whatever.

Never say never, but the level of enthusiasm among today’s young people combined with the above-mentioned software/computer complexity gives me the opinion that it probably won’t happen, but who knows? Maybe there will be AI driven multi material digital printing technology that wi be able to replicate any part and automatically replicate and install any software necessary… continually moving goalposts make the future difficult to predict.
