Chuck a piece into the po' boy lathe (drill motor) and shape/polish to your heart's content.

Pro tip: when it comes time to separate the completed object, slide a sprig of basswood inside the tube that extends past the cut by an inch or two.

I can't count the number of times that a tube has gone skittering across the bench after even the most gentle cutting action with an exacto or saw, even from an errant sneeze.
