Pretty sure that picture in my post was from Indy. The wooden snow fence, while not necessarily exclusive to Indy, is a clue. The photo appears to be the east side of the pits on the road course that serves as the staging lanes even to this day. The re-entry crash can be seen at about the 4:50 mark of this video, though a bit simplistic, and little more than a Hurst advertising, it's still worth the watch for the classic cars.

A side note, ABC Wide World of Sports had network coverage , and it can be found on youtube as well. it includes a savage crash that took the life of Jim Riley. You can hear the voice of ABC's Keith Jackson in the background of this video. The old Redhead was very good at what he did.
