Jim,an interesting question,I've had my 1940 Dodge since 1971,hotrodded since 1973,notice I said hotrodded but I use the term hotrod & streetrod,to me the terms are interchangeable & mean the same thing tho' in the 80/90's some of the thought police derided the street rod ..

term as they felt it tended to refer to the high dollar cars, detailed and built with no expense spared.......we all have our preferences...me I detest what I call "crap rods", rusty heaps of crap that supposedly represent a "hotrod" or something from "back in the day".........back in the day no one was proud to leave their hotrod as an unfinished car......yeh sure cars were driven in primer etc but that was only a temporary thing.......not the finished article............the term "Street Rod' is also NOT a new term, I have seen it used in magazine articles from the 1950's without so much as any complaint.......so whats a hotrod or street rod........to me any car can be "hotrodded" but a hot rod OR streetrod is a 1948 or earlier car, modified by the owner to reflect his or her taste..............I'll get off my soapbox now........Andy Douglas
