For those of you who don't have Model Cars Magazine issue 224 yet, the Vintage Workbench features a profile and interview with our own Tim Boyd. It contains many historic photos and anecdotes, along with Tim's vision of the hobby. It's a great read. This issue also highlights a Tim Boyd tribute build thread with a variety of builds that were inspired by a Model A truck Tim built in the 1980s. If this weren't enough, there is a tribute to the late Brian Borden, who did artwork and kit concepts for Revell back in the late 80s-early 90s, before his untimely death. It features a write-up by former Revell Bob Johnson, and a Hot Rod Lincoln buildup by Tim Kolankiewics. The Hot Rod Lincoln is the sister kit to the iconic Matt & Debbie Hay Thunderbird kit. This will be my last column for a while, as I was recently diagnosed with head and neck cancer. I'm going through chemo and radiation, and I'm told the prognosis is good, but Prayers are very welcome. Everything we own is in storage, as we are up in Illinois for my treatment, and once I recover, we will be going back to South Carolina, relocating from Columbia to Charleston. Now to Max. Max is now 8 and a half, and developing into quite the modeler. He won a 1st-3rd jr sweep at the Soda City contest in Columbia in May, and Best Jr at the SC Mega Show with his 32 Vicky. Max did nearly all the work on this one, except for masking the roof and applying the 64 year old original Deuce Roadster decals. He also scored a video interview with HobbyDude007 Mark Batson. While a few minutes were lost due to a glitch, Max did a great job, and I couldn't be more proud of him. I hope you will check out the whole video, linked below.
