I need some help. I'm building the resin copy of Barris's Aztec, and the kit is less than perfect. *PIC*

I'm knee deep into the body work. The grille opening was a total mess so I had to recreate it with milliput. That's coming along. The hood is almost completely flat and was amout 2mm too small for the opening. I've built up the edges of the opening with evergreen and putty, so that seems ok. The hood is still flat, so all I've done is bevelled the edges a bit to simulate a bit of a curved return toward the fenders. The interior bucket is horrible. As you can see, the buttons are just a mess. I was considering designing an overlay in 3d and wrapping the seats and door cards in a new 55 bucket. However now I'm thinking I might be able to overlay the velvet portions with some real material (velvet, velour, fuzzy something or other) and make the seats actually have a soft surface, then installing pin heads for buttons. What a job, but I'm deterimined to build a museum peice out of this thing. Have any of you built one of these, and if so can you share the results? Either an Aztec, or another resin kit of similar design? Any help or comments are appreciated.
