Thanks, l don't know anything about flathead and they look like Arden heads but l guess that is there purpose. *NM*

Those are not an overhead conversion, just decorative covers for L-head (flathead) cylinder heads. I've got a set of those; as I recall, the cylinder heads came along with the covers *NM*

Questions about flathead Ford engines. I have the Rep & Min Thickstun head covers. First are these the same a Arden heads. Second, what kit has the best flathead Ford engine and would these work on it? *NM*

What Mark said. RMCoM offers a flattie block, also I've had good luck with Revell flattie blocks--40 & 48 & 50 Fords with RMCoM flattie stuff. *NM*
Cool, thanks. *NM*
here is something basic that a lot of people seem to miss: On a stock flathead (meaning no ohv conversion like Ardun), there are three exhaust ports coming out of the upper part of the block. With the Arduns there are four exhast ports in the head, and the 3 on the block
Interesting, l never noticed that. *NM*
Revell 40 Ford/32 Ford & Lindberg 53 Ford flatheads are the nicest plastic kit ones IMO,the only kit Ardun is in the hot rod version of the Revell 50 Ford Pickup, the Thickstun covers are just that, covers for a flathead head, there is also resin Berry & Chung(Kiwi) covers. *NM*
Thanks! *NM*
I agree with all of the above. Note though that it was the second version of the Monogram '50 Ford Custom that had the correct Ardun heads; the first version had an incorrect three-tube exhaust configuration. Here's a R&M of Md Thickstun Flathead V8 build.... *NM* *PIC*
Thanks Tim, I couldn't remember what the issue was with the Ardun bits in the 50 P/u...the AMT 53 P/u DeSoto Hemi has a nice set of 4 outlet headers that fit the Ardun. *NM*
Andy....great idea on those AMT '53F100 DeSoto Hemi headers! TB *NM*
Thanks for the info. I'm learning most about flathead than l thought l needed to know. Cool. *NM*
And what bugs me is there is at least one resin caster re-popping those Ardun flatheds with the three pipes. I even wrote to one , a while back, pointing out the error. Response was : "I don't care. People buy them." *NM*
If they are copies of the Monogram ones (even the revised version) there's more wrong than that. They're not rounded enough. I was hoping Revell would have done a better set for one of the '32 Fords, or even the recent As *NM*
The Thickstun covers may have been designed for use on boats, to keep the plug wires dry. But they look cool, so guys used them on hot rods too *NM*
That's exactly hwat they were designed for Mark, to keep water off the plugs. They didn't provide any mechanical upgrade, but sure look cool. *NM*
What Mark and Craig said...! TB *NM*
Boxart reference to kits with and without correct Ardun headers--------PICS
Thanks Rich!!! tb *NM*
I might be wrong about this, but I thought those valve (really head) covers were for boats to keep water from messing up the spark plugs. *NM*
Could be but then guy would put them on the cars to have a different look. *NM*
They'd keep water off of the spark plugs in the rain in a hot rod with no hood too. *NM*

Bill, nice exploded pic of an Ardun, a guy in my 1:1 hot rod club has an Ardun in his steel 32 Vicky, our club auctioned the box the conversion came in a couple of yrs ago at our WinteRun, closest I'll ever get to owning an Ardun but had nowhere to put it.....lol. *NM*
