I did exactly just such a thing, the A/FX cars of the 60s it was common practice,
In Response To: It looks like you swapped the front fender cut outs to get the wheel openings moved forward? I do not know if that is a customary way, but it sure saves work whenever the fender side shapes will allow it. Slick trick! *NM* ()

I gained an additional 8 scale inches, same mods to the chassis, though it was a bit more complicated, in hindsight I should have used one of the AMT altered wheelbase funny car chassis, but as long as you keep the cuts square it's really just simple Math. Fun project, I'm turning attention to the engine and interior next. Thanks for your interest.
