Takes a little bit of practice, but, you just cut it with a quality acrylic waterbase thinner - that all smell and act just like 91% ISO which is what I use most.
Practice on an old body or two for a while until you get the hang of it (and all you 12 year olds snickering out there, go to your rooms.)
You want a clean, thin coat. Don't go super heavy like I did, for a shelf model it is unnecessary. A few passes are plenty.
Because I over-do whenever possible, I put mine in the dehydrator overnight on low and it dried down like any lacuqer. After that, if there are any boogers, you can knock them out just like any paint, and in the event of disaster, a diluted solution of ammonia will strip it clean.
