• Since some folks here are also train fans I thought I would post this link to an article that says the world's largest steam engine "Big Boy" is traveling on a tour through the west these days. Here is a link to the article with info about it and its scheduled appearances. *LINK*
  • I would recommend to anyone anywhere along the route, go see it as it passes by.... Such an incredible machine! I ditched work to see it pass through my area back in 2019.... *PICS*
    • I was also able to see it that year when it passed less than 2 miles from my house. What a cool piece of machinery! Won't be able to see it this time, though. *NM*
    • Lordy, how on earth do they lube that monster!? *NM*
      • At their stops every so often, a crew gets busy with oil cans and grease guns, takes them about 10 minutes or so and they are ready to go again. There were 5 guys lubing if I recall correctly *NM*
        • The more I think about it, it was probably 3 guys lubing. It was 6 years ago when I saw them. *NM*
          • Staggering amount of labor that it took to get them from A to B
  • I saw it going through Pine Bluffs, WY a few years ago. It's a very impressive machine. After it stopped in the town, we drove along side it on I-80 at 70 mph. Simply amazing! *NM*
