• I'm thinking I made up my mind on the next DDA (Diecast Distributors Australia) kit I'm going to order. XY Ford Falcon GTHO. Not sure what year this is (?? '71 ??), but I like it... *PIC*
  • I've got that kit,# DDA242K,the rear window Veniciation blind is in the kit,also a nice 351 Cleveland,black decals for the hood & the 351-GT stripes in red,orange & black,wheeels are Globe 5 spokes,similar to Ferrari Daytona 5 spokes,note the kits are ABS plastic,no chrome. *NM*
  • And the XY series Ford Falcon came out in 1971, the kit has decals for the glove box lid in either GT or GT HO which was basically the only way to tell whether you had the HO(High Output or Handling Option) depending on who you ask. *NM*
  • I admit I know nothing about the Down Under cars, but if I squint just right I see a 69 Ford Falcon....... *NM*
    • Ford Australia used the North American '66-'70 body from '67 into the early Seventies. They didn't use the two-door, and their wagons were way different *NM*

      • Yep, from 1967 Oz Falcon Wagons & Utes were approx 9" shorter from the rear wheelarch to bumper, different grilles, tailights, etc & no 2drs until the 1972/73 XA series...USA 66-69 2drs are quickly snapped up over here to convert into pretend Oz versions. *NM*
        • Why didn't they do 2 doors for so long? Just not what the customers wanted back then? *NM*
          • Customers there mainly wanted four-doors. Not enough demand to tool body panels for coupes or hardtops in many cases *NM*
            • You got two doors because you couldn't afford all four. The inverse of the US market, which makes sense because they are upside down in OZ. *NM*
              • The Oz new car market was mainly serving the family needs, very few young drivers could afford a new car let alone a 2 dr sporty car, new, young drivers tended to get older, 2nd hand cars which were generally 4dr sedans. *NM*
          • Theres no definative answer but as the Oz market was very small it just didn't make sense to build 2dr 67-71 Oz falcons but from 72 with the XA series to XC's it did make sense but only a few 1000 of each series. *NM*
  • I would be tempted to carry the three chrome rear horizontal bar forward on the side accent crease to the nose, as the double red stripes hitting the tail lights/chrome bars at random messes with my OCD, lol. *NM* *PIC*
