What year and Make is it ??? I can only assume that it is a 134A system. If it is pre 1996 it used an R12 system and will need to be retrofitted to 134A. If it is 2017 and newer it takes R1234YF freon that is super expensive and hard to get for the backyard mechanic......

......Assuming that it is a 134a System it is not really that hard to charge it yourself. I would bet there is a Youtube video specific to your vehicle that will be helpful to locate the correct charging port. The downside of charging it yourself as opposed to having it done is that it is really hard to measure how much freon you are actually charging and it is an "ish" a best. Also it is important to AVOID those self chargers with a LEAK SEAL as that usually will cause more harm than good internally.
