I got a few Japanese brass locos from my Father in law
I bet few got painted by their owners. *NM*
Some did......I painted a PRR K4 for my father in law.......

Judging by books from the 1950s or '60s it would appear one could. I'd love to build a 4-4-0 in 0 Gauge, but even assembling one from cast brass detail parts seems a bit daunting. *NM*
