  • If you are using an oil that meets the API spec for the engine, and it is the correct viscosity for the engine, I don't think it matters what you use. *NM*

  • This is one of those questions where, if you ask 100 people, you get 100 answers. The answer is to use a quality oil, suited for your engine, changed regularly. *NM*
  • What kind / year of vehicle are we talking about ??? It has always been stated that you are better off having clean standard oil than dirty premium oil !!! I have been a Full Synthetic person from my early days with high performance sprots cars.......
    • BTW.....most Synthetic oils have the "High Mileage Additives" anyways. *NM*
    • I assumed he was talking about a new car. Said it had under 20K on it. In old cars that have flat tappet cams, you need an oil with a high zinc content. I have been using 20W50 Lucas Hot Rod and Classic oil in my '69 Dart since the day I bought it. No problems. *NM*

    • FYI......ALL GM models from 2011 and newer Require a DEXOS 1 approved oil that is only a Full Synthetic. *NM*

      • Dexos doesn’t always mean a full synthetic. It could also be a synthetic blend. I think GM later changed it to reduce costs for their dealers. *NM*
