Somewhere, buried in all my crap, I have a photo of my daughter sitting in the race car, with Derek kneeling down beside her.
We had gone to an open house at the Raynor Team race shop (When It was still here in town), where they were having a meet & greet with the team. Anyway we got there a bit late in the event, so we were the last people that they let through the line. Derek spent a fair amount of time chatting with my wife and I, and kept telling my daughter what a cute little girl she was (at that age she was adorable... lol) and offered to let her sit in the racer.... She told everybody she met about it for weeks afterward.
