• So I have that 68 GTO coming my way, and I picked up a 69 4-4-2 for the frame, but I just can't find a decent Pontiac 400 engine.
  • The engine in the Revellogram 1970 Trans Am looks decent. Even though it’s 1/24, it doesn’t look too big. (At least not to me) *NM*
    • Caution....the Monogram '70 TA engine is really a 1980/81 301 V8 (leftover from a previous version of this tool). I'd go with the '66 Revell GTO (with a 4bbl/manifold/Air Cleaner from another kit) or the Revell '68 Firebird 400....TB *NM*

  • Do an eBay search for “1:25 Pontiac engine”. I have picked up the 68 Firebird 400 for about 12 bucks. *NM*

    • I think the average person might not see much difference, but car guys would. JMHO. *NM*
      • Valve covers, heads, oil tube placement, number of valve cover bolts. Lots of differences (PICS)
    • About as different to a Pontiac engine as a Ford or Mopar engine would be. *NM*
    • In 1/25 scale, the oil fill tube would be the most noticeable. Everything else, you may need a magnifying glass. *NM*

          • Right. The Pontiacs used the same block and head castings from at least the early 60s, and maybe even back farther. Pontiac did change the valve covers in 67 when they increased the cubic inches to 400. *NM*
  • I may can help you out, I have the 400 from the Revell 68 Firebird kit, you may need to co e up with the accessories (air cleaner, carb, fan maybe?) but its 95% plus all there . Email me your mailing info if you want it *NM*

    • Yeah I looked at that but it is a (somewhat poor) redention of the 421 block from the early 60s. I would need the valve covers and intake to make it look like a 68 engine. *NM*

    • 1/24 Revell 400’s are nice except the intake is for the over the counter Ram Air 5 heads, which do not come in the kit. Easy fix with the exhaust port sections from an FE Ford. *NM*
      • 4V Mopar or SBC Chevy intakes will pretty well pass in scale - there's often a big ol' air breather over the top, anyway
