  • What's the difference between a '58 Belair and a Delray? *NM*
    • The Delray had less chrome on the side and a simpler interior than the Bel Air. The Biscayne had even less chrome and an even simpler (cheaper) interior. *NM*
      • I am WRONG! Here are pics of the various 58 Chevy models.
        • Neat....for what its worth, it's impossible to go wrong with Cragar S/S. a Biscayne was for sale just down the road from me earlier this fall, it was gone before I had a chance to stop and look at it. *NM*
        • You need to look at the rear of the cars too. The Impala's not the same as the others. *NM*
        • Del Ray was the bottom-line, plain Jane, el cheapo model. Bel Air was a step up - mid-range model. Impala was the top of the line. Another note - Impalas had six taillights (3 each side) while the Bel Air had four (2 each side) + separate, optional-at-extra-cost backup . . .
          • There is a guy that shows up at the donut shop sometimes on Saturday mornings with a '58 Delray in only fair condition, but I really like it. A good starting point. *NM*
          • The trunk lid and 1/4 panels were different too. *NM*

    • Did you know that if you do not run the Cragars in the salty winter months, and keep them waxed, that the chrome stays nice? *NM*
      • That's the way we used to do it. had the same set for probably 10 years, moved them from car to car, never an issue. I was more concerned about the tire shop employees breaking the center out of them than them rusting. *NM*
        • As an ex-tire shop guy, we hated Cragars and Keystones. Finally figured a somewhat safe way to get the tire off, but took 3 times as long as a regular wheel. *NM*
          • I can still hear Don Miller( of Miller Tire in Muncie) telling me the first mounting, he'd guarantee , after that any other tires mounted on those wheels was on me.....
      • Never seen any used in winter weather, still the rims get rusty and the chrome starts peeling off of the centers after a few years. I polished my 24 year old set of American TTIIs a couple of months ago...back to looking like new *NM*
  • Nice Chevys. But: repeat after me: Cra-GAR
    • And CRAGAR makes wheels that are all aluminum in 17" and up, that look like the classic S/S wheels. No plating on them . May be an optiion to look at. *NM*
