Bruce, the Lindberg release of the AMT '34 tool did have plastic (thin) axle inserts but the tool has always been designed for a steel axle insert like most all early AMT kits. Some of the original AMT kit parts were omitted from the Lindberg releases....more inside

Here is picture of one of the recent reissues by round 2. Most of the accessories from AMT's initial release, 1962, have been included with this one.
There are also custom wheels, thin plastic axle inserts, etc. that were added by Lindberg. One of the things missing all these years are the custom wheels from AMT 1962 release. Also, the the original decal designs are not in this one but were avaiIable with an earlier reissue which used the original box art. I've included a photo of the boxart. I've had or had a number of these kits over the years so I'm pretty familiar with them.
