Del Ray was the bottom-line, plain Jane, el cheapo model. Bel Air was a step up - mid-range model. Impala was the top of the line. Another note - Impalas had six taillights (3 each side) while the Bel Air had four (2 each side) + separate, optional-at-extra-cost backup . . .

. . . lights. Del Ray had the same two taillights on each side as the Bel Air, but the inner lights were back-up lights - optional at extra cost.

Del Rays were black sidewall tires and dog dish caps.
Bel Airs offered white sidewalls at extra cost and full wheel covers were available at extra cost.
Impalas were all-out - white sidewalls standard and dressier full wheel covers - wire-wheel simulation wheel covers at extra cost.

The pictures illustrate the trim gradients.

Interiors were likewise upgraded for Bel Air and even more for Impala.
