As somebody who just watched the video and has rounded up several old MPC GTO’s…

…I’m fairly certain they will offer it with an engine in future.

Notice that the under hood area of the body has an upper radiator shroud cast into place. A very convenient thing for somebody adding engine detail, that the original MPC kits with engine detail never had.

The chassis is at least as good as the old MPC Chassis. Actually, better because the inner wheelhouses will fill out to the body and not leave huge gaps like the old MPC pieces do.

Add an engine, and you are probably on a par with the old MPC kits, or better. Add a chassis from the AMT ‘69 Olds and you really increase the detail.

Where to get an engine, you ask? The obvious one to use is the one from the Revell ‘68 Firebird. These get pricey though…

If you want Tri Power, you could use the engine from a Revell ‘66 GTO.

You could also use the engine from the Revell Monogram 1/24 ‘68 and ‘69 GTO’s. The detail is decent on this one, and it is actually a bit undersized for 1/24, so for 1/25, it seems to work well.

Lastly, the engines from MPC’s ‘67- ‘72 GTO’s could work. The detail is a little softer with these, but they still look the part.

Prefer an automatic transmission? I think the one in the ‘69 Olds will work.

Nice to have this one back!
