I have not used it, but Tamiya does make a retarder (87114) which I assume is designed for their acrylic paints? *NM*

Is there a common substance that can be added to Tamiya acrylics to retard drying somewhat? Trying to paint some small details but it's just drying too fast. *NM*

Sorry - you said a "common substance". Hopefully someone has an answer :) *NM*
That's OK, never knew about the Tamiya additive. *NM*
I found this online...(Personally I would just use the Tamiya product). But you could experiment a little. *LINK*
Interesting. Thanks! *NM*
They mention Tamiya in the story - so there must be some level of use beyond our hobby *NM*
One thing I found about Tamiya acrylics is that Windex will remove it even when dry. I assume it is the ammonia that is the active chemical here....
Well, Bill, it's not "common," but their X-20A acrylic paint thinner has worked for me. *NM*
