Monogram may have done 1/24 scale because other model companies outside the U,S, did 1/24. 1/25 is U.S. only, but with a twist, from what I've read.

Monogram and some (many? a few? all?) 1/24 scale companies did their masters in 1/12 scales, then used 1/2 (or is it 2/1?) pantographs to get to 1/24 scale. 1/24 is half the size of 1/12.
AMT 9and MPC and others) did heir masters in 1/10 scale, and then used 2.5/1 or 2 1/2/1 (or are they 1 / 2 1/2?), hence they wound up 1ith 1/25 scale.
