I have a plan in my head of doing a VW bug with a V8 or V6 engime in the rear. Problem is I'm not sure about the rear axle.Is there a transaxle I can use or just use the VW rear??? *NM*

V6 and V8 Vair conversions are legion, thus I'd look up the real version of your ideas. AMT's Corvair has a 3 or 4-speed transaxle. Also depends on whether you're looking for plausibility or just looking good *NM*
Well...in my misspent youth(50+ yrs ago) I built the Revell Dune Buggy, nice metallic gold plastic, but only dak,dak power, so I glued a blown JoHan 426 Hemi onto the VW transaxle, the plastic handled the power, didn't worry about cooling, etc but it looked good at the time..lol *NM*
Swap in the whole Corvair transaxle and suspension. That'll work with a 6 or mild V8. Next step would be a FWD Toronado or Eldorado automatic transaxle. People used to swap those into Corvairs with the 455 or 500 V8s! *NM*
Many years ago a fellow I used to work with told me a story of a VW bug blowing by him in his 327 Chevelle. When he saw him later, he found out it had a 6 cyl boxer from a Porsche 911. Not a V6 but cool nonetheless... *NM*
A well-tuned Corvair flat six will get your attention in a hurry
If you have an IMC Chaparral 2E, you can use the whole rear engine/transaxle/suspension :) *NM*
Had a friend put a formula Vee motor in a 73 super beetle. *NM*
