The Trumpeter experience showed that there's much more to a 1/25 scale kit than meets the eye (literally.) They were 20 years ahead of their time in the level of detail, but kits (Falcon, Bonneville) did not benefit from multiple epoxy master reviews that are customary for Moby, R2, etc. Chinese toolmaking had just not evolved that far, and the commercial failure of the product was a cautionary tale for the rest of the industry, as was the limited reception for the PL GTO and Coronet.

Today, it's clear - get it right. Moby fixing the Nova sedan roof is a perfect example. They can keep shooting that tool and never fill demand.
