FWIW, Corvairs have been part of the Orphan show for years....TB *NM*

It may be like the one here in Oct. The numbers were dropping even before Covid so now they pretty much take anyone willing to pay the entry fee. *NM*

2022 Orphan Car Show - The Orphan show celebrates cars from Studebaker, Hudson, Nash, Kaiser, Frazer, AMC, Checker, Plymouth, Edsel, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Imperial, et al. Photos and Commentary at the link below...TB *NM* *LINK* *PIC*
In the 60's, who would have thought Plymouth, Mercury, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac would be orphans? Thanks for posting. *NM*
GM drove the once proud and sporty brand Pontiac into the ground
Management bled Plymouth to death, #3 auto maker in 1967. *NM*
Nice job on the pics - I'm actually in one of them hahahah *NM*
When I think of the 61-66 Pontiacs... what a shame. *NM*
They went crazy with the plastic cladding.. *NM*
The real issue was GM transfer pricing - they couldn't charge enough to make money after the mid-70s
What's transfer pricing?
An online search shows this link that includes an auto manufacturer example. *NM* *LINK*
Thank you, sir! *NM*
Guess my 2004 S-10 is now an orphan, it was the last year they made it, bought it new.. *NM*
Od that they stopped producing these "smaller" pickups, big isn't always better, but then I'm a European ;) *NM*
Agree with you Luc. Had an 1988 Ranger, Perfect size, ran it close to 200,000 miles. When I heard Ford was bringing it back was thinking about buying one until I actually saw one. Too big, too much geegaws, too much money. *NM*
Always the same mistake bigger, more expensive. *NM*
Wayne,,,,check out the new Ford Maverick pickup. Price and size much closer to your original Ranger....TB *NM*
I went ahead and got another Focus. Just too much electronic junk on the Maverick, even more then the Focus which I still haven't figured out most of it after 5 years *NM*
Toyota should make a Tacoma PU Hybrid based on the Prius. That would sell like hotcakes. *NM*
I had an 86 Ranger S got 198000 out of it, then the floors rusted out. *NM*
Don't have to worry about that in SoCal and AZ. Just the top paint blistering and rubber trim cracking. *NM*
The “bigger” pickups are a lot more profitable though. *NM*
Some really nice cars there. Not sure I'd call Citroën and Renault orphans but always happy to have any chance to see then, especially SMs and DSs. *NM*
Orphans here, no importer or dealers. Nissan is tied in with Renault, they have the good sense to not try to bring Renault back for a fourth time *NM*
We had a Peugeot dealer here into the 80's. The only Peugeot I ever saw was owned by a college professor at TCU. *NM*
Dave, thx for comments. I think you already know, but '71-74 Javelin was a favorite of mine. Corvair is included in part because the show location is so close to the old Willow Run Corvair plant; seems like they had another justification too. TB *NM*
Don't get me wrong...I love Corvairs.......like to have one someday!!! thx *NM*
It might be more like Renault owns close to 45% of Nissan with a big share of voting stock. Then the French government owns 15% of Renault. Citroën is part of the Stellantis conglomerate. *NM*
THANKS Tim for sharing........ *PIC*
Dave...see my response a couple of lines up in the thread...TB *NM*
