    • New tool Craftsman Plus '65 GTO. Just placed an order for the replacement, along with a Craftsman Plus '68 GTO. *NM*
  • Applying heat while clamping or twisting parts is a good way to straighten warped parts. It also works in the reverse. IMHO, no pressure of any kind should be applied to parts in a paint dehydrator. Better luck next time! *NM*
  • Been there done that... The new Chinese plastic doesn't play well with a dehydrator. In my case they both sucked in. I was able to save my 68 Chevelle and I'm still working with the other. *NM*
    • 90°F Maximum guys. *NM*
• It's been so long since I needed to strip paint. Will Simple Green strip paint? What else is there? (I won't consider brake fluid) If I remember right, just submerge the part in a tub of the cleaner and let it soak. *NM*
  • Simple Green, Castrol's Super Clean and their ilk are all concentrated soap solutions... Simply submerge the painted body and wait while checking progress every so often. A tip: Drain and strain the stripper after you've finished or the stripper will...
  • This stuff: *NM* *PIC*
    • ELO (Easy Lift Off) is brush on if I recall... I'm told it even works on problematic flat black paint. *NM*
      • Some colors (like flat black) might leave the plastic stained. But the paint will be gone. *NM*
    • Extra tip - have a tub of 91% ready, too
      • I find something like Ajax/Comet cleanser, water, and a soft toothbrush work great after ELO. Never tried the alcohol, but I will next time. *NM*
        • I use Lava soap. *NM*
        • Alk is for soaking, conserves the ELO and is benign to the plastic
  • I use this stuff. *PIC*
    • David, does it strip chrome and the lacquer coat underneath? *NM*
      • Haven't tried it. *NM*
  • Depends of what you want to strip. My go-to is purple SuperClean. If you're using CitrusStrip, test it on a spare part--I had it melt a Revell-era 58 Thunderbird chassis topside *NM*

  • Ive done that! I have a Camaro that I botched the front fenders on. Sanded it out then masked and repainted just the front clip. The hood? Messed it up 4 times. Strp and repaint. The 3rd time came out beautiful. Except I grabbed the wrong can of blue. Keep trying! *NM*
  • Been there - done that many times. Just strip the hood or sand it and repaint. :-)

  • Hang in there, we’ve all been down this road. Personally I find painting to be the most stressful and frustrating part of the hobby, but also the most rewarding when it works out well. Strip, prep, paint, repeat as necessary. ;-) *NM*

  • Those 1/24th scale Goodyears remember the ones with the lettering is just the outline of the letters. Then 1/25th wheel push it thru then get a wheel ring back push it thru now you have a deep wheel. I may have the tires I'll look later when I'm in my cave. *NM*

        • I managed to find one in my tire bin and I think it looks right proprtionally. I don't think I have any more of those tires though. I looked through the few kits I have that may have had them in but all are gone. Got a couple intact ones to spare? *NM*
          • Problem with those tires is the only wheels you can use are 1/24 Monogram/Revell wheels. I'd order the correct 1/25 tires from Modelhaus. AFAIK they still make tires, and there is a huge selection. *NM*
            • They can be "sleeved" with the outer ring of a wheel that does fit. A good use for damaged or out of style wheels *NM*
          • Let me look for some I know I have some. Now to find the 1/25th wheel push it thru and find a ring w/ depth your looking for so you can have a deep dish. *NM*

  • One-time-only issue, the Superstang, had the supercharger and chute. The other parts look like headlamp covers, they were probably in that one also *NM*

      • '67. The kit first appeared with that body as the Mach I concept car, in '67. The 1:1 concept was shown in '66 *NM*

• Scott, for the axels with one wheel drill a hole the size of the axel in a block of wood. Then insert the axel in the hole and holding the block firmly pull the axel straight out from the wheel and block. That puts no lateral or twisting motion on the wheel. A similar

• Vaughn Hart, Harts Parts, is making me a few sets of resin parts for the Mustang Cobra II. He said that I could tell everyone here that he is making them. They are for the MPC body. I don't know how well they will fit AMT, but I know the grill is way off between AMT and MPC *NM*

• While looking at resin bodies for a funny car chassis, what would you suggest using for the windshield? I'm thinking that HobLob has clear sheets that I could use. Do I go for the thinnest, or go for a bit thicker? *NM*
  • You go for the one that's clearest and has no ripples/rubs/smudges on it, Mike. *NM*
  • A lot of consumer stuff is blister packed. Check closely for ripples. I've used Q-Tip clear blister packing for years. *NM*
  • Asking the maker of the body might steer you in the right direction *NM*
  • Clear vinyl report covers from the CVS, Dollar Store, etc... inexpensive, easy to cut and fit. Secure with the narrow two-side tape. *NM*

• There is an Arrow, Vette, 2 77 Trans Am versions, a Citation, and a couple of others. A few years ago I bought a Monte Carlo SS body that was designed for that chassis.
