• Hey guys, I'm working on another '64 Cutlass, this time an original ragtop that was missing it's windshield frame so I'm doing it as a salt flats race car. What year doe the Olds engine in AMT's '39/'40 Ford Sedan represent? Would that be too old for a '64-era car? *NM*
  • The AMT 40 sedan was released in 1960 so the Olds engine was likely based on a late 1950's engine. The block itself isn't very well detailed, but the 3 carb intake representing the Olds J-2 options is nice,. *NM*
    • Generation prior -1964 was a crossover year when both early and Mk. II Rocket engines were built by Olds
  • The Revell '50 has a great older engine and their '72 kits have a more modern one, both kits easy to find and great for parts! *NM*

  • Well, after I closed my shop I hadn't built anything till a mate asked me to build a Lindberg 48 Lincoln, so I just polished the body & painted the interior, then realised I had lots of kits in coloured plastic so I built a few of them, no paint, just polished the plastic &
    • Yup: I've had(still have)this hobby since about 1948(I was 11 years old back then).Strombecker airplane kits were solid pine wood with lead "fittings" and Cleveland stick and paper kits, were the "Cadillac" of kits back in the '40's Ah, the smell of "Dope" back then. L.O.L. *NM*

    • Couple of weeks ago his wife had to see the tax person and she ask me if I could stay with him until she returns... didn't want to leave him alone. So spent several hours with him and you know not once did we talk about models. Funny it just never came up. *NM*

  • If you right click on the person's name, you will not copy their email address BUT if you click (left click) on the person's name then it opens their profile and that's were you'll see their email you can right click on the email and paste it in your email program... OR...

    • Hurst worked a lotwith Oldsmobile. *NM*
      • Not until '66, Hurst was working with Pontiac in '64. Seller added the emblems to make more out of that car than it originally was *NM*

  • A-, X-, F-Body, Corvette, Impala from classic era are 5 on 4.75; Big Pontiac, B-/C- Body Buick, IIRC Olds B-/ C- are 5 on 5 (as are most late pickups before transition to 6-lug *NM*

      • Funny that they gave Tempests 5 lugs where early Corvair had 4. (Same swing axle design). *NM*
        • The Buick and Olds compacts also had four-lug wheels. Tempest could be had with 15" wheels and tires also *NM*

  • Wow, had to look Diverticulitis up, what were your symptoms Steve? I have been having stomach issues also over the last few years. Hope you are doing better. , *NM*
    • Bad cramps on the lower left side of the stomach and the trots. If left too long you'll need surgery. Funny illness, it affect the right side in North America, the left side in Europe. And they really don't know what causes it but 1/2 the population has it to some degree *NM*

  • Not only can you have diaherrea but you can be plugged up too..When you're plugged up the pain is worse than the diaherrea pain..Been there had both..You don't want the surgery part.. *NM*
  • been there myself, darn near in tears from the pain, but have yet to go to hospital for it. Luckily the last few flare ups have been very mild. Check on line if you haven't done so already to see what food to avoid.
  • Friend of mine from the office (when I was working) had it and one of the things she had to avoid was anything with seeds those torn up her stomach. *NM*

    • On both Bonnevilles with the Rally ll's, they came from the MPC mid 1970's MPC Firebird kits. I think that they are the same as the ones in the MPC 1967 GTO. *NM*
