Thunderbolt and Car 64 - A tale of two Fords. (Or what I did the summer of 2013.) *PIC*
Great car and a good sport to go along with the shenanigans! *NM*
These are ones I got from you while back... You do GREAT work... *NM* *PIC*
Re: Drag City Casting also has a '32 firewall much like the "Rat Roaster" kit........PIC
Friday Evening Randomness..... ENJOY!!!! *PICS*
Yay! *NM*
Nice pics marty, that Valiant Ute is a 1969 VF series, tho' the "hemi 6" didn't appear till the next year, 1970, also the 4 headlight grille is from the top of the range VIP, all others were just 2 headlights........lol. *NM*
Where is the engine in that "1/4 Pounder" Plymouth? Must be sitting under the windshield, based on that radiator location. *NM*
Correct you are, sir.... *NM* *PIC*
Here's more pics from his album of the car *PIC*
Thanks guys! That's wild. *NM*
great pics as usual *NM*
My brain is addled tonight...jog my memory- the third pic, the gold custom; what is it? *NM*
That is Merl Berg's gorgeous '55 Chevy. *NM*
Thanks Marty! *NM*
WoW!!!! those are some good ones.
Off the bench......PICS......
I LIKE IT!!! *NM*
Yet another cool MOPAR, Dave.... I thought you might save this one til the end of October though. 😜 *NM*
Nice one! *NM*
Looks great. That "Halloween interior" really works with that black paint job. *NM*
Well built model! *NM*
NIIICE!!! *NM*
The orange seat panels look cool. *NM*
Nice build David! I like it! *NM*
What's the difference between these 2 Peterbilt kits? Is this a full detail kit versus a curbside?
Isn't one the "Revell Germany" issue, and the other the "US market" issue? Some of the other kits are that way. *NM*
Isn't the cheaper one in the 2nd pic the basic snap kit, theres also a Kenworth thats the same style of snap kit....maybe. *NM*
Andy nailed it.... This is the difference, right here. *NM*
Top: Level 5, bottom: level 4. *NM*
Short story: Everything is different. Long story: Inside.
Miscellaneous Mopar Madness *PICS*
That silver pickup and the red 62 Fury are both flat out gorgeous! *NM*
That 69 Super Bee looks bad to the bone. I'm with Marty on that silver stepside. Wow! I've said it before, we need a kit of that year truck. *NM*
Well I did my part to try and make a styrene kit happen.... I've bought a 3D printed example and two resin ones. 😁 *NM*
Did you find a good 3D printed one? *NM*
Re: Miscellaneous Mopar Madness *PICS* Lots of bright colors this week....Ouch my eyes! *NM*
Straight Line Friday......
How, that makes me want to build some dragster models!! *NM*
White ONES? : ) *NM*
That Re-Entry T/F is way cool! Don't think I've ever seen it before. *NM*
Yeah, I've been infatuated with that car since first seeing that pic years ago.... Unfortunately, I seem to recall also seeing another pic of it wadded up into a big ball of scrap aluminum as well. *NM*
It barrel rolled somewhere, may have been Indy. *NM*
Tommy Ivo said all of those early streamlined dragsters (including his) were all wrong, they were trying to force a teardrop shape down the strip backwards *NM*
That IVO PIC gets me every time. Cool stuff, CD. *NM*
Sooooo...all those guys running alongside...did they think they could outrun the car ????? *NM*
Re-Entry....... *NM* *LINK*
Interesting.... Then the picture above must have been taken at the '66 World Series.... Strange that Dad didn't snap any photos of it.... He must have been too fascinated with Garlits' Dart Roadster.... He took several shots of that car. *NM* *PIC*

The Chevy guys last stand. Bucher was very competitive *NM*
He briefly held half of the Top Fuel national record before falling ill. An early version of the Larry Dixon (Real Don Steele) car pictured was also Chevy powered, and cracked the fives! *NM*
While not pictured here, Rance McDaniels Valley Fever car was another Chevy powered Top Fueler that ran well, and was quite good looking too. *NM*
Ahh, can smell them from here. Thanks. *NM*
Cool pics CD, I enjoy the background cars and push trucks too! *NM*
This is a project I'm building for my brother.......Revell 66 C10 *PIC*
One more pic *NM* *PIC*
Sharp! But do you think you have enough motor in there for it to move right along? I would think so! ;^) *NM*
Re: One more pic I'm liking this one! Can't wait to see it finished! *NM*
Beautiful and so cool, very nice! I love it. *NM*
Super Cool, Steve! I'll be waiting for the finished pics. *NM*
That is one cool build. Your brother is a lucky guy! *NM*
Is that for Darren or Jeff, Steve ? *NM*
That is going to be another winner..... You definitely have your finger on the pulse of what's cool!!!! *NM*
Oh that LSC...and how I miss the several Mk.VII LSCs I had ...TB *NM*
On the bench. 48 Ford. *PIC*
Really like the paint job! *NM*
LOL. Thanks. I'm not at liberty to discuss my paint jobs on this board. However thank youn for the compliment. The paint is Vallejo duck egg blue. *NM*
How are you not at Liberty to discuss your paint jobs? *NM*
It’s probably because he uses 2k from the looks of the shine on it and there was a lot of flappy flap on here about using it considering the health effects even with proper protection. *NM*
It was a whole thing last week, pretty sure it was a tongue in cheek comment. *NM*
Paint looks great ! Does Vallejo paint require the same PPE as the automotive paint discussed previously? For those of us not in the body shop business, some info would be appreciated from those in the know. IMHO, your knowledge is too valuable to hold back.
The Vallejo paint is the base. It's such great paint to work with, I love it. It's an acrylic so it's quite safe. As for the clearcoat, it's 2k. Some love it, some consider it to be too dangerous to use. Again, I love it. It is however not good to breathe in. *NM*
Thanks!! Appreciate the info! *NM*
This appears to be a "self-imposed" censure. Most unfortunate... *NM*
I just don't want to be used as the "bad example" again. That made me question why I would even share my builds in this group. I however decided to ignore that little event and rise above. *NM*
I'm glad you rose above the fray... I have to tell you, I REALLY like that roll bar. BTW, Cliff Read exclusively uses 2K finishes on his masterpieces. *NM*
That's your perception, steve-o, and it's not an accurate one. It's a case of incomplete information--most of us don't know the mechanics of 2K clear, that's all. *NM*
Some folks--myself included-- assumed it works just like hobby paints. That was our perception--you had nothing to do with it, friend. *NM*
I'm sure you can understand why I would feel singled out, as my name was mentioned more than once as a reference point. My perception is what it is. All good brother. I'll keep displaying the results of 2K and everyone who wants to use it should educate themselves.
I can understand it completely--and sympathize. I've been ostracized--and trolled--more than once here. *NM*
FWIW, alsa.com offers a 2K clear in a spray. *NM*
If it's in a spray can, it's either 1K or a "one shot" deal (activate it, then you have to use it within a set amount of time) *NM*
That's a beauty, nicely done, whichever clear you used, it looks fantastic. *NM*
Recently purchased my first 3D body, not one most of you guys would buy....but interesting to me *PIC*
Oooo, I like that! Be fun to see what you do with it. *NM*
I would have for sure........ *NM*
Yeah...you would have a funny car out of it! I'll make it a vintage custom. *NM*
You do realize that Frank is no stranger to building customs... Both vintage and contemporary.... *PICS*
Thank you for saying it Marty. So many people think all you guys build are drag cars. But those that know you know better. ;-) *NM*
What Jim said! Just screams mild custom (with Caddy wheel covers and maroon paint). *NM*
I was leaning towards Caddy wheel covers and dark red paint, but the maroon paint idea sounds really good. *NM*
Ooh! I really like that. *NM*
Oh I don't know.... I could definitely see myself buying one!!! *NM*
Jim, where did that come from?......also those hubcaps? *NM*
On ebay a seller named 'Jays Resin Wheels" The wheel covers were on a DC I bought many years ago, but can't remember what it was. *NM*
There were several diecast vehicles that came with two sets of wheels/tires, those being one. I lucked into two sets of that style (without the car), separate from one another. Wouldn't mind finding a couple more sets, but haven't seen any in a long time *NM*
Looks really smooth. Is it? *NM*
Not really sure, I'm going to clean it, and hit it with some primer and see how it looks. You can see some faint swirls on the roof. *NM*
I may need that file. *NM*
Looking for Instructions for Revell 1/24 Porsche 911 Turbo,. Not at DP. Anybody? *NM*
Kit #? What's "DP?" *NM*
Drastic Plastic, the club site with a bunch of scanned instruction sheets *NM*
Thanks Mark. *NM*
Are these what you're lookinjg for? *LINK*
Looks like a neat little kit - anyone build it yet? Is this a new Revell tool or a reissue?
This is the old Monogram Kit in 1.24 released as Revell . I think its a great kit but some criticize the tires are a little undersized in the back. Revell has a 911 Targa and regular 911 that are new (ish..within 2 years) and excellent. *NM*
The old Monogram Kit used the same size Pirelli P7s it used in their other Eiropen models (Mercedes 450 SL, Porsche 924, Capri II). They were undersized for a 911 Turbo. *NM*
That's probably the one that didn't have an engine. I've got a convertible version of the one pictured, I believe it has Goodyears from the Eighties car kits *NM*
Need to keep eyes peeled for this one. If they are in the mood and have the tools, their 308 Ferrari was the best of them all, IMO in both stock and rally
That one looks like an ex-Monogram kit. The two newer 911 kits look more like Fujimi Enthusiast Series kits with simpler engines *NM*
Bingo! That's the one my friend. Thank you. *NM*
You're very welcome! *NM*
For anyone purchasing the latest Revell '39 Chevy Sedan Delivery and not using the barrels included (think Beer Wagon) please keep me in mind. I can use them.....BOXART INSIDE
They're yours. Also have some in 1/35th. Can you use those? Send address to
[email protected]
. *NM*
You have mail. Thanks for your generosity. *NM*
Great tip from one time boardista Mark Jones - using CA and Canopy Cement on Clear Parts - from FSM *LINK*
That IS a great tip! *NM*
I usually tint my glass with Tamiya acrylics and use super glue to attach them, They never fog up on me. The acrylic allows that but it dofen't help me not get glue strings all over the inside of the glass. ;-). *NM*
I heard clear lacquer works good, too. *NM*
Don't do it !! , , Lacquer will craze the glass just like it will a bare body. *NM*
I should add, that's if it gets on the glass where it will show. *NM*
What works even better, and will NEVER damage any part(s), and requires zero cure time: very thin, clear double-sided tape! You can even "reinforce" it with canopy glue if you want, later. *NM* *LINK*
I’m wondering what the effect the adhesive would have on the plastic over the long term….like over a decade. *NM*
Nothing that I can see. I have a couple I built that way that are over 10 years old. *NM*
Same here.... My DuraChrome Bug funny car was built back in 2006 and the double sided tape on the windshield is still holding strong. *NM*
Also, no I'll effects to the plastic are visible after all this time either. *NM*
I think the adhesive is urethane-based. A relatively benign substance. *NM*
Thanks for sharing the PICS! *NM*
I'm loving seeing those Lincolns showing up. *NM*
That one was exceptionally nice! *NM*
Does Italeri still produce classic cars because I have a suggestion for them... *NM* *PIC*
Yeh, I could live with that...Entexdid the 37 Packard Town Car & Convertible but in 1/16th scale, I've built the Convert, Italeri did a Rolls & Caddy in 1/24th, I've got the 1/12th Fiat staring at me from the shelf......lol. & *NM*
Forgot the Mercedes 540K, also Italeri did 2 Cadillacs,1933/34 models.....that Packard Town Car would be a great addition, if only. *NM*
The first pic, that Fairlane is sweet. Great little show, thank you for sharing! *NM*
I'm with you Mike what a beautiful and made for a great start to the album. *NM*
