  • Looks like some bad touchup on the box art. First kits with the wide solid Firestones were that Fairlane, and a reissue of the '69 Chevelle (which also included stock engine parts for the first time) *NM*

• There have been a number of 1/25 diecasts over the years. Being somewhat a scale "bigot" I have a few....2 EXAMPLES INSIDE

    • I'll answer this way. Everything is expensive. Nowadays most modeling items cost me twice what they did 25 years ago. The first AMT '34 Ford Pickup I ever bought was $1.49? Now the SAME TOOLING is $33.00 + or -. Would you consider that expensive? *NM*

  • I don’t think it’s a matter of being a scale bigot, it’s just what some people prefer in their collection. For me, I have other scales too, but mostly with model car kits I like 1/25th. There is nothing wrong with that. *NM*

  • Some department stores carrying kits did not want the year printed on the box, so they wouldn't have to discount them when they became "last year's" kits *NM*

        • I remember seeing MPC kits like that starting with the '73 annuals. AMT actually started earlier, '71 and maybe before that...
    • In later years, the new model year kits came with a cellophane band around box that called out the new model year. After a few months or maybe earlier, the later kit boxes lost this cellophane band or sticker. Clever way for them to handle it, I guess. *NM*

  • Scott, The '68 Mustang kit, 85-4215, DOES have the Bullitt grill (P/N 50) and 4 Torque Thrust wheels to build the Bullitt car *NM*

  • In my opinion it’s excellent. They are coming out more like every three months, but it’s consistent. Previously it seemed to come out on a random schedule. I recommend it. *NM*

• I built a hydraulic track excavator about 45-50 years ago, I think it was 1/24th or 1/25th scale and it could have been a Hitachi or something like that as it was molded in orange...but I don't remember wich company did it and I threw it away a long time ago unfortunately. *NM*

  • I'd piece the cabs together, then you know the grille will fit. You'll be three kits into the project ('63, '65-'66, and a '60 for the bed)... how badly do you want one? *NM*

  • Really it's just a transplant from the belt line down, on the back of the cab where the bed is going to sit. You'd be pretty safe just to cut from below the window and swap the rear cab wall. *NM*
  • Guys....keep pin mind that the Unibody f100s had a different door than the Stepsides, those using the '57-60 Styleside pickup bpx, and the chassis cabs. The swage line across the door was different between the uinbody and the others....TIM *NM*
    • I don't have to be perfect, just close. What about a step side? *NM*
      • The amt '53 probably the easiest to locate; revell '56 would work too along with the mpc box.. *NM*
        • MPC's box is cribbed from AMT's, but has a couple of small bumps intruding into the load space (to make it fit the custom chassis) *NM*
          • Mainly the slicks. *NM*
    • The door is the least problematic part of this. I'd concentrate on the back of the cab and (new) rear window, the doors can be taken care of with a template and some epoxy putty *NM*
    • Another difference between the 63 and the Moebius kits and the earlier is the roof crown *PIC*

• I remember when those cars were new. They were nice cars. *NM*
• Cruver offered A D-7 in plastic. Reuhl later took over this product line, then offered their own diecast version in 1950. Production of Reuhl CAT toys ceased with the expiration of the license. Some of these diecasts were later reissued by ERTL. *NM* *LINK* *PIC*

  • Sounds great. If you are not willing or able to protect yourself from the harmful effects, it's best to stay away. That goes for a lot of other products too. Educate and protect yourself. 3D resin is what worries me right now. *NM*
