  • Is the back of the tire completely inside of the wheel back rim flare? If it is not, it may have been stretched when it was pushed on from the front and then "unstretched" pulling itself back to normal width with the back flange being the anchor. Just a guess. *NM*

  • If you're applying kit decals, you're better off with a gloss clear. Decals settle better over a gloss surface. Once the decal has done so, you can hit the tire and decal with a clear flat. Tamiya probably makes one of the better ones, or Gunze Sangyo/Mr. Color. *NM*

  • A trick Curb told me about years ago is to float the decal on the surface of the water [backing off] and carefully bring the tire up to it from beneath. It's worked for me. *NM*

  • I wouldn't bother. I wasted dozens, just cant figure it out. Painting them is probably what I'd do if I need whitewalls, or rob them from a kit where the tires have been printed. If it's for old-schood wide whites, find a kit to rob. . .
  • Gonna put the wheel in before or after?? If before, you'll crack the clears getting the wheel on. If after, how you gonna mask the wheel off to apply the decal? *NM*
    • All you need is to ream out the I.D. of the tire so that the wheel falls in. Then use a little epoxy or even Gorilla Glue to attach the tire. I pretty much always do that with solid tires. *NM*
• I was fortunate enough to get one of those from Shaun several years ago. I was going to bash it with a '55 Pontiac promo and make a replica of my stepdad's old car but I found a resin Pontiac wagon so I can build the Chev. *NM*

    • I agree. That blue has a very realistic 1:1 metallic blue sheen look. The glossy red could be the monochromatic glossy red. Might gloss up the white, too. Is the hood going to be blue? Will there be a white break at the front of the car somehow? *NM*

• I'm thinking I made up my mind on the next DDA (Diecast Distributors Australia) kit I'm going to order. XY Ford Falcon GTHO. Not sure what year this is (?? '71 ??), but I like it... *PIC*
  • I've got that kit,# DDA242K,the rear window Veniciation blind is in the kit,also a nice 351 Cleveland,black decals for the hood & the 351-GT stripes in red,orange & black,wheeels are Globe 5 spokes,similar to Ferrari Daytona 5 spokes,note the kits are ABS plastic,no chrome. *NM*
  • And the XY series Ford Falcon came out in 1971, the kit has decals for the glove box lid in either GT or GT HO which was basically the only way to tell whether you had the HO(High Output or Handling Option) depending on who you ask. *NM*

    • Ford Australia used the North American '66-'70 body from '67 into the early Seventies. They didn't use the two-door, and their wagons were way different *NM*

      • Yep, from 1967 Oz Falcon Wagons & Utes were approx 9" shorter from the rear wheelarch to bumper, different grilles, tailights, etc & no 2drs until the 1972/73 XA series...USA 66-69 2drs are quickly snapped up over here to convert into pretend Oz versions. *NM*
        • Why didn't they do 2 doors for so long? Just not what the customers wanted back then? *NM*
          • Customers there mainly wanted four-doors. Not enough demand to tool body panels for coupes or hardtops in many cases *NM*
            • You got two doors because you couldn't afford all four. The inverse of the US market, which makes sense because they are upside down in OZ. *NM*

• Question for our friends "down under." On this Ford Falcon, why is the hood scoop off to the side? Is this car powered by a I6 or a V8?
  • Thats the 1970 XW Series Ford Falcon GT, came with a 351 Windsor/4speed or Auto...the offset hood scoop was how Frod Australia did it...the next model, the XY came with the centred "shaker" setup from the US Mustang etc, DDA also do this car in plastic as well. *NM*
