• More 1970 Dart. How do you feel about the chances of Round2 doing one? They have the L.A. Dart which is a 1970-71 Dart body with radiused rear wheel wells and missing trunk lid. They have the Petty Dart and now the Demon. Maybe there's a better chance for R2 do make a 70/71? *NM*
  • I can appreciate your passion for that car, but I agree that it's not likely to see the light of day in any other form than it already has.
    • I bought a resin one a few years ago and it was junk. I bought one a few months ago from a different source and it's better, but still beyond my skill level. I'm going to try and build it best I can. If it comes out in plastic, I'll build more to replace the resin ones.. *NM*
      • Come on now, I've seen your builds on here and first hand, it's not beyond your skill level by any means, it's just different media that takes a little extra prep and work. I have no doubt you can pull off a resin build. *NM*

• I have read all of your guys comments about my 70 Dart post. One thing I failed to mention, they guy I talked to held up a 69 Dart body and asked "what's different?" He's not much of a car guy. So, I guess that I shouldn't count on Revell to Do one. *NM*

      • When the car is built, you'd use either the stock or optional wheels on it and use two of the leftover wheels on the trailer. I don't think anyone will mind the wheels not being part of the deal *NM*

  • The trailer doesn't have exclusive wheels, you just use 2 from either the mags or the stock wheels, which ever you don't use on the car. Part 4 or 17 according to the instructions *NM*

  • While I would buy a kit of it if one came out I don’t think the market is as big as you think. I think the people who want this car are older modelers and they are dying off unfortunately. *NM*
  • Yes, if it's not movie related or somehow in the public eye, chances are pretty slim. Revell and Round2 do new kits based on a wider appeal than us. Remember that Revell is now part of an international company. More world cars, less old American muscle. *NM*
    • Based on my personal observations, this mindset truly baffles me.... My local big box store only stocks models about once a year, with an assortment from R2, of 4 each of maybe 12 different kits....

    • I admitted in my post, that my observations were based on a small sampling of certain box stores in my area... But what I do find most intriguing, is that year over year the sci-fi kits, that supposedly pay the bills, are what's left languishing on the shelf....
      • Totally agree. It would be nice to get a sampling from many areas to see if there is a trend. From what I have seen here is that Gundam seems to be tops, then military. Sci-Fi and Auto seem to be on a par. But the nearest GOOD Hobby shop is a 26 mile one trip into Oregon *NM*

    • However, that picture I found of R. Petty's 1965 Daytona car can't be correct. He went drag racing in '65! He didn't run any NASCAR races tha year, AFAIK. *NM*
      • NASCAR did allow the Hemi very late in '65, once they were shown the Street Hemi production area...

      • I thought it was a studebaker but wasn’t sure. I didn’t look close up for the firebird so the builder did a really good job on it, I did remember seeing that model posted here before *NM*

        • An explanation about the molded fascia.... The front fascia on the kit (a Revell snap kit) didn't fit well at all and my attempts to correct the problem just made it worse, so I figured, screw it.... It's a custom anyway. I'll just mold it in.

    • 23rd Avenue, Moline for me.... Stuff like that was pretty common back when I was cruising the avenue around 1978-83, though toward the latter couple of years a few back-half pro streeters started popping up.
      • When I was in HS (early '70S) everyone had their cars jacked up like that. Had to make room for the L60-15s! *NM*

          • I took the advice of our local hot rod shop, and put spacers in-between the coil springs and the axle. Gained around 2" on my '65 Galaxie. Still could only fit G-60s on the back, but it still looked cool. *NM*
        • I remember those days. Jacked up, tires sticking out of the wheelwells, sometimes with a wear stripe from the tire touching the wheel arch on bumps. Quarter windows full of decals, and the best ones had side pipes! *NM*

• If they are so bad, then, Ford will be out of business soon due to warranty claims. Those "Eco-Boosr" engines, in either 3 or 4 cylders, are now standard equipment in nearly every small(er) truck or SUV they sell. I bought a Maverick and the 2.0L EB
• MPC did such a good job with those kits, the Dodge Daytona, FWD Charger, Omni 024, but kinda dropped the ball with the ‘82+ Camaro/Firebird. The F-body kits were very crude compared to those Mopar kits. *NM*
  • I didn't think the early ones were bad, other than having a stick transmission which couldn't be had with the Cease-Fire Injection engine *NM*
    • The whole engine compartment was wrong. The shape of the wheel house where the top of the strut mounts is completely wrong. Front glass wasn’t flush and there was no torque arm or panhard bar.. The promo, interestingly, had those details molded in the chassis plate….
• Over the last two years, I posted a bunch of my old Hemmings mags for free on FB Marketplace and they were snagged pretty quickly. One of the neat things is a couple of them were for kids who liked cars. *NM*

• On a recent Consumer Reports podcast "Talking Cars", the addressed that by saying that their readers are not reporting major issues with the newer turbo 4s, like they did in the 'old days' of the '80s and '90s. *LINK*
  • YouTube has scads of videos of disassembled EcoBoost engines. Instead of three cylinders with a turbo, I'll stick to four without *NM*
    • Then, you still have D.I. which has its own set of problems like LSPI. However, some have went with port injection along with D.I. to help mitigate it. Still, it’s more complexity added to the engine. *NM*

• Corvair engine runs in reverse in its "normal" installation, turn it to face forward and it runs the same way as other Chevy engines...
  • You have a good point Mark. I guess neither myself or TSK realized that the Corvair engine was "backwards"! No need for weird driveline modifications. *NM*

• I agree, I am not a fan of the monochromatic look and I may at least chrome the side trim later. I've had those rims and tires for years and I can't remember where I got them. I know they aren't for slot cars. I orginally had them on this build PIC

  • Preaching to the choir. I still say given how popular those early 70s Darts and Scamps were in the '90s, if aftermarket-style parts of the era had been tossed in, it would have been a great kit *NM*
• I'm thinking it's about time to repop the 55 -57 Chevy Stepside pickup, maybe with a straight 6 to change it up, although the 265 V8 is certainly welcome again. *NM*
